As the golden chariot of sun takes a lazy nap…pearls pour down from the heavens decorating the earth in a robe of crystal green. The sky covered in a blanket of black…a careless splash of lightning now and again and blow of thunder hither and thither…
Yes, it is monsoon again…with all the memories of the naughty childhood and dreamy high school days treasured with it…The pitter pattering raindrops playing the sweetest music the ears had ever heard, Monsoon is definitely the time to celebrate. Rejoice the divine love our heart bears, cheer the poetic fancies in us…and more than everything applaud the journey of life.
IBM Club Kolkata came forward to celebrate monsoon this year also like the year before. As Monsoon Festival 2007 was announced to be held at DLF on 27th July and at BCS on 3rd August, the weekends found IBM-ers where busy preparing themselves for the D day in gym and cafeteria, with hearty enthusiasms.

“Jaane kya chahe maan bawara…” hummed our host Vaibhav to begin the Monsoon Festival 2007. The saga of talent began with the girls welcoming monsoon in an auspicious music of life. Monsoon Festival 2007 began with the girls dancing to the tune of a soft dizzy music. It was followed by in-house fashion show and some peppy dance numbers with a touch of vocals here n there. The hall was dancing in the tune of the down pour of music…every heart present perhaps left back their workloads behind as they lost their selves in the rhythm of life. The evening advanced with sizzling dance numbers like Barash Jaye Badal, Yeh Mera Dil, Jhoom barabar jhoom, Khaike paan Banaye rashwala…and a Fashion Show...occasionally studded by melodious music. Soon, the floor was taken by our in house DJ Vivek. The crowd was dancing in the direction of his fingers J
Monsoon Bash @ BCS
A week later, BCS dressed up to host the Monsoon Festival. And the show began from where it had ended the previous week. The show began with a tribute to our dear friend Saptarshi Kahmrui who departed some days back. The rhythm of the evening slowly increased with the different events. There was also a little prize distribution event for the different events which took place in the recent past. The program advanced with Vaibhav binding the different events with his shayari and songs. The audience rocked with the performances like Barsho re, Pyar k eek kahani, Rock n Roll, Sajnaji Vari Vari, Phaguner Mohona and others. There was also a hilarious skit which was like icing to the cake. The last event was the DJ night, which saw the intoxicated crowd dancing to th rhythm of life, pulse of heartbeat and the soul of music.
The evening ended with a promise to have a greater show next time. Not with grief that it is over, but with the delight that it has actually taken place.
